We sold about 15 flights at the stand over 3 days, and gave out heaps of pamphlets to interested people. We had heaps of calls and visitors after the event, often months after seeing the stand. So yes I'd say it was worth the effort.
We got a cheap deal on having the stand in the mall, so if we had to pay full price (often $1000+ I think) it would not have been nearly as worth it.
Our stand wasn't exactly inspiring either, having a glider in the mall would be better. Also having a video playing on a big screen would be great to draw people in.
Most important I think is to make obvious what we're selling, in our case the $90 2000' trial flights. Most people upgraded to the $130 3000' flight.
